Show graphs in minitab!
Probability distribution plot < View probability < Gamma

Suppose that X has a gamma distribution with lambda = 3 and r = 6. Determine the mean and variance of X.

a) P(X < 1)
Numerical value = 0.2677, SHOW ON GRAPH!

b) P(X > a) = 0.2
Numerical value = 0.7132, SHOW ON GRAPH!

Homework Answers

Answer #1

X follows Gamma with shape 3 (assuming lamda is the shape parameter) and scle(1/6) ( assuming r to rate)

Then, E(x) = 3 x (1/6) = 1/2

Var(X)= 3 x (1/36) = 1/12

(a) P(X<1)

(b) P(X>a)=.2

The (a) han not satisfied. If the lamda and r wrongly taken please comment.
