Players A, B, and C toss a pair of fair dice in order (i,e., A, then B, then C, then A again, etc). The first player to get a sum 7 or 11 on their toss wins. What are their respective chances to win using product probabiliity on the sequence of tosses?

Answer #1

Solution: - Probability of getting a heads on a single toss = 1 / 2. A can win in following ways: Getting heads on first toss + not getting heads on first x nobody else gets heads on the first x get heads on second + … = 0.5333. B can win in following ways: (A does not get heads in first toss + B gets heads in first toss) + (Nobody get heads in first toss) x (A does not get heads in second toss) x B gets heads in second toss + ... = 0.2667. For C to win, we have: P(A and B do not get in their first toss)

One of the most popular games of chance is a dice game known as “craps”, played in casinos around the world. Here are the rules of the game: A player rolls two six-sided die, which means he can roll a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 on either die. After the dice come to rest they are added together and their sum determines the outcome. If the sum is 7 or 11 on the first roll, the player wins....

Please follow the comment. 2. Roll two fair dice repeatedly. If the sum is ≥ 10, then you win. (a) What is the probability that you start by winning 3 times in a row? (b)What is the probability that after rolling the pair of dice 5 times you win exactly 3 times? (c) What is the probability that the first time you win is before the tenth roll (of the pair), but after the fifth?

In an experiment, two fair dice are thrown. (a) If we denote an outcome as the ordered pair (number of dots on the first die, number of dots on the second die), write down the sample space for the experiment. (So a roll of “1 dot” on the first die and a roll of “3 dots” on the second die would be the ordered pair (1, 3) in the sample space S.) You can think of the first die as...
