Representative sample is important because when we resembles the population from the data sample, then the data sample must be a representative sample of the population, otherwise we will not be having data accurate or similar to that of the population.

Simple random sampling or SRS is mostly used while taking the representative sample data set so that there will be no issue of biasing and the collected data sample most closely resembles the population.

That's why obtaining a representative sample is important, otherwise we can never make conclusion population using the sample data.
