You wish to test the following claim (HA) at a significance level of a= 0.002
Ho: μ = 77.4
Ha : μ > 77.4

You believe the population is normally distributed, but you do not know the standard deviation. You obtain a sample of size
n = 14  with mean M = 82.9 and a standard deviation of SD =8.6

What is the test statistic for this sample? (Report answer accurate to three decimal places.)
test statistic =

What is the p-value for this sample? (Report answer accurate to four decimal places.)
p-value =

Answer #1

Solution:

Given that,

= 77.4

M = 82.9

s = 8.6

n = 14

The test statisc t is,

t = (M  -  ) /  (s /n)

t =( 82.9- 77.4) / (8.6 / 14 )

t = (5.5 *  8.6 /14 )

t= 2.393

t = 2.393

Test  statistic   = 2.393

This is the right tailed test .

P-value = 0.0163

= 0.002

P-value >

0.0163 > 0.0163
