Need solved ASAP!

A certain basketball player can make a free throw shot 25% of the time. What is the probability that in a sequence of free throw shots this player makes his/her first shot.on the fourth try?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A certain basketball player can make a free throw shot 25% of the time.

Thus, p = probability of accurate free throw shot = 0.25

q = probability of incorrect free throw shot = 1-p = 0.75

To find probability that in a sequence of free throw shots this player makes his/her first shot.on the fourth try

n = 4

Thus, he misses 1st , 2nd , 3rd each with probability 0.75 and hits last one correct which has probability 0.25

Thus. required probability = P(1st fail)*P(2nd fail)*P(3rd fail)*P(4th pass)

= 0.75*0.75*0.75*0.25

= 0.1055
