Consider the degradation rate of two pills. A random sample of 36 units is drawn from each population. Experiments provide the following results. The average and standard deviation of the sample for tablet “A” are: 24 microg / year and 3 microg / year. Likewise, for the “B” tablet, the average and the standard deviation of the sample are: 26 microg / year and 4 microg / year.
 
We want to determine with 95% confidence that the average degradation of the tablet B exceeds the average of the tablet A. That is, we want to calculate the confidence interval for the difference in averages of the tablet B minus the tablet A.
