Can the model you built earlier be used to estimate the oxygen consumption for subjects whose RunTime is 18, RestPulse is 80, RunPulse is 100, MaxPulse is 100, or Ranking is 15,000? Please answer yes or no and explain your answer. If your answer is “yes”, what would be your estimated average oxygen consumption for this type of subjects?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution:

We cannot use the regression model based on given data for the estimation of oxygen consumption for the subjects whose RunTime is 18, RestPulse is 80, RunPulse is 100, MaxPulse is 100, and Ranking is 15,000; because maximum value for ranking is given as 13449 and estimation of oxygen consumption for ranking of 15000 would be overestimation. Also, variable rest pulse have the range between 39 to 71, and use of rest pulse of 80 in regression model would be overestimation. The range for max pulse is given as 156 to 193, while use of value for max pulse as 100 would be underestimation for the oxygen consumption. Due to these reasons we could not use this regression model for the prediction of oxygen consumption.
