ASAP PLEAS

A proposal from a local deputy is supported by 16 of 29 people consulted in the municipality. Is it reasonable to conclude that more than 50% of the municipality's population supports this proposal? Use a level of Significance of 0.025 and perform a hypothesis test with its five steps to justify your answers

Answer #1

STEP 1: NULL HYPOTHESIS H0:

ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS Ha:

alpha=0.025

P(hat)= 16/29= 0.55

STEP 2: Z= P(hat)-p/sqrt(p*q/n)

Z= 0.55-0.5/sqrt(0.55*0.45/29)

Z= 0.05/0.092

Z= 0.543

STEP 3: Decision Rule: Reject H0 if Zcal > Z critical(=1.96)

STEP 4: Since Zcal smaller than Z critical we are failed to reject null hypothesis H0.

STEP 5 Conclusion: We dont have sufficient evidence to conclude that  more than 50% of the municipality's population supports this proposal.
