Homework Answers

Answer #2

Answer)

Lets say we have a sample size of 100

77% plan to go to college immediately following high school = 77

Of those who plan to attend college immediately following high school, 17% plan to major in Math. = 17% of 77 = 13.09

Of those who do not plan to attend college immediately following high school, 11% plan to major in Math = 11% of 23 = 2.53

Probability is given by favorable/total

Total = 100

Favorable = senior does not plan to attend college immediately following high school and plans to major in Math. = 2.53

Probability = 2.53/100 = 0.0253
