One of my variables is standard infection ratios. And the other variable is binary (1 or 0). Is it possible to run a student t-test if the continuous variable is a ratio? if it is not, can I standardize the standard infection ratios and still do the student t-test?
It is absolutely fine to run a student t-test if the continuous variable is a ratio.
Student's t distribution is the ratio of standard normal distribution and the rooted mean of Chi-square distribution, where the normal random variables are all fractions.
The necessary condition for using a student's t distribution is to have a continuous variable which is satisfied in the given situation.
