If the slope of a regression line is zero, the orientation of the regression line is _________, which indicates a lack of a relationship.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

If the slope of regression line is 0, the orientation of regression line is horizontal which indicates lack of relationship.

Reason -

Equation of regression line is -

Y = a + bX

Where, a - intercept & b - slope

If value of slope is equal to 0, then regression equation becomes -

Y = a

It means that for any value of X, value of Y remains same & which is equal to intercept value.

If we draw a scatter plot, then it will show a horizontal line.

Hence, if the slope of regression line is 0 then orientation of regression line is horizontal which indicates lack of relationship.

A 95% confidence interval for the slope of a regression line is found to be (-0.32, 1.56). Which of the following statements is a valid conclusion from this interval? The regression line is only valid for values of the independent variable between -0.32 and 1.56. There is a 95% chance that the true slope of the regression line is positive. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that the true slope of the regression line is not 0. There is insufficient...
