Describe the checks you would undertake to assess the strength of the relationship among the variables before conducting a factor analysis.

Answer #1

Factor analysis is the tech which used reduce the factor from larger set of variables into smaller no of variables.

We checks many assumption before performing Factor Analysis on variables -

To check to assess the strength of the relationship among the variables we consider following points -

A) No perfect multi collinearity: Factor analysis is an inter dependency technique.

There should not be perfect multi collinearity between the variables.

That is factors should not be interdependent with correlation = 1

B) Homoscedasticity: Since factor analysis is a linear function of measured variables, it does not require homoscedasticity between the variables.

The variance of the residuals remains constant.

Which statement explains why correlation could be 0 even if a strong relationship between two variables existed? Group of answer choices Since the correlation is 0, there is no strong relationship between the two variables; and a scatterplot would be misleading. Correlation can be 0 even if there is a strong linear relationship between the variables. Correlation only measures the strength of the relationship between two variables when the units of the two variables are the same. Correlation does not...

The test results of a correlation analysis conducted to assess the relationship between body mass index and body fat percentage indicated a Pearson correlation coefficient (r) value of 0.71. Interpret the r value in terms of strength and direction. The significance (p= 0.14) was tested at α = 0.01. Was there a statistically significant correlation between body mass index and body fat percentage? How did you arrive at your conclusion?

Pick any two variables that you feel may be related and estimate what you think the strength of the correlation coefficient would be for those two variables. In your response, estimate the value of r. For example, specify a strong (.7 to .9), medium (.4 to .6), or low (0 to .3) value for r. The value of the coefficient can be positive or negative. For example, consider an increase in police patrols in a neighborhood and the number of...
