Can someone explain the use of order statistics and the distribution of order statistics? I have the long formula but I am very confused as to what it means.

Hello,

The simpe defination of order statistics means the arrage observations assending order ,

for eg : 20, 10, 30, 5, 35, 40

now arrange the in order

5, 10, 20, 30, 35, 40 ------ this is called oredr statistic

X1= 5 is first order statistic

X2 = 10 second order satatistic

so on .......

There are different kind of order statistic formulas, if you have mentioned in example we can do better help. please put formula in comment so i can do better help ..
