Please state the null and alternative hypotheses both in written form and in statistical equation form for the following case:

Bulter Trucking Company

A major portion of Bulter's business involves deliveries throughout its local area. To develop better work schedules, the managers want to predict the total daily travel time for their drivers. Initially the managers believed that the total daily travel time would be closely related to the number of miles traveled in making the daily deliveries. See the random sample:

Answer #1

For null hypothesis, we assume the that the result is not significant, so we can write it as

Null hypothesis:- There is no significant relationship between the daily travel time and number of miles traveled

For alternate hypothesis, we assume the that the result is significant, so we can write it as

Alternate hypothesis:- There is a significant relationship between the daily travel time and number of miles traveled

so, we can write it as

this means if the rho value is less than or greater than 0, then there will be significant relationship between daily travel time and number of miles traveled in a day.

American Express Company has long believed that its cardholders tend to travel more extensively than others-both on business and for pleasure. As part of a comprehensive research effort undertaken by a New York marketing research firm on behalf of American Express, a study was conducted to determine the relationship between miles traveled (x) and charges made on the American Express card (y). Eight cardholders were randomly selected and their total charges recorded for a specified period. A questionnaire was then...
