Identify the type I error and the type II error that corresponds to the given hypothesis. The proportion of settled medical malpractice suits is 0.34

Answer #1

Type I error : If we reject the null hypothesis when it is true then the type I error is appear.

Type II error : If we accept the null hypothesis when it is not true then type II error is appear.

Here claim is "The proportion of settled medical malpractice suits is 0.34"

So null hypothesis is H0 :The proportion of settled medical malpractice suits is 0.34

H0 : P = 0.34

Type I error : The proportion of settled medical malpractice suits is not 0.34 but in actual it is 0.34.

Type II error :  The proportion of settled medical malpractice suits is 0.34 but in actual it is not 0.34.
