Consider the following list of data set drawn from a sample of size 7

3.6 , 2.6 , 3.6 , 2.6 , 4.8 , 7.2 , 3.6

a) Find the coefficient of skewness for the data.
b) Compute the kurtosis for the data.
c) Is the data represent the right or left skewness distribution?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Above problem is solved using Minitab. Output of Minitab is attached below,

a) skewness = 1.58

b) kurtosis = 2.73

c) The distribution is said to be right-skewed. In such a distribution, usually the mean is greater than the median, or equivalently, the mean is greater than the mode; in which case the skewness is greater than zero.

Therefore, it is right skewed.
