A random sample of 80 Canadians were asked to report how many pounds they set as their New Year’s weight loss resolutions.

Therefore the Hypothesis:

H0: p 0.5

Ha: p < 0.5

The following are the assumptions

1) The sample of Canadians is a simple random sample

2) The sample are independent of each other.

3) n * p and n * (1 - p) are both greater than 10.

4) The population size is at least 10 times the sample size.
