What patient assessments are important to perform post-craniotomy.
Craniotomy is a procedure of opening of bonesof the skull. So, close monitoing and observation should be done for the first 6 hours after surgery. Then for atleast 24 hours patient should be monitored.
2. Vitals signs should be checked closely.
3. Neurological assessment should be done as there is a chance of neurological deficits
4. compare current findings with baseline findings.
5. conduct emergency evaluation and take measures accordingly.
6. Mediactions as per doctors orders should be given.
7. Deep vein thrombosis prohyalxis should begiven.
8. The cranoitomy site sould be checked as per physicians advice and should specify it's site,condition in the nursing notes.
