What do you think about military personnel learning an ancient form of navigation after relying on state-of-the-art technology for generations? Do you think this practice will continue?
Are there other traditional skills that would be useful to know if technology doesn’t work (in the military, home, and society)?
What skills are we currently using (e.g. handwriting) that are also being phased out? Is this a good thing for our society or are there unseen consequences?
I support the knowledge of ancient forms of navigation as a supplement to learning state-of-art technologies. Military personnel, given the nature of their profession, are likely to find themselves in unexpected situations where they may not have access to technological equipment. In these circumstances, traditional forms of navigation would offer them support and assistance.
Building a shelter, and knowledge of medicinal and edible plants is something that all individuals should be aware of. At the event of a disaster or calamity, each person should be equipped to ensure that are are able to survive without external aid, at least for a couple of days. This training should be imparted by educational systems level themselves.
