Descartes defends God against the charge of faulty workmanship to have conceived humans with an imperfect perceptual capacity. He instead states that if we can follow the principles that he has set out for ys, we need not have cause to blame our limited intellect, or the fact that our will can sometimes he used to assert things beyond our understanding. Rather, if we restrict ourselves to asserting only those things of which we possess a clear and distinct understanding, then not only will we not fall into error, but we will be using both will and understanding as God intended.
