Answer #1

The answer is B, "poses challenges for".

Sociologists have shown that the study of race relations poses challenges for objective examination. Many studies have been done on the experience of racial relations on the grounds on mental models. They study the conscious awareness, deep rooted ideas, assumptions, biases and beliefs about the way the world works. These models lie on the assumption of individual differences, uniqueness and subjectivity of human beings.

Therefore, it is challenging to have an objective outlook towards racial relations when every person has their own individual experience and perceptions regarding it. Moreover, mental blocks such as stereotypes, prejudices and biases worsen the situation.
