After viewing the Ted Talks Becky Blanton video on homelessness in the unit, connect how the situational, needs and developmental perspective are represented in the story. Imagine the narrator came to you as a client. How would the “whole person” perspective be useful in getting to understand her needs? Support your answer with specific examples from the readings.
This is increadible speech, thanks for posting question on it so that I can read it.
The situation is she is in depression, she is lost, she has no good job or home, her needs are to get a new and good life, a secured one which would be without her father, developmental perspective - The developmental perspective is show that she goes back to work again, she starts writing and improves her life by fulfilling the needs and thereby changing the situation.
If she would have come to me then, I would have understood through her eyes which is humanistic perspective. I believe Becky Blanton's father was her everything. For a girl, even if she is old her father offers warmth and tremendous support which a woman doesn't realizes unless it goes away from her. Any family member's support is deep within the conscious. She had lost her guiding light and was not able to find the same in the job. The whole person approach also considers the following eight perspectives -
Medical and other forms of treatment - She was not taking any treatment as such, accomodations - her sad life in van and the challanges she faced during summers and winters, education and training - the good education which she got of jouranalism, social - her social life might include the professional life, cultural and spiritual (her values and integrity), Finance-she was not able to afford apartment though she did job, parenting - her father, work and occupation - Her fiercy and writing career as journalist, personal care - Though she took care of herself, but they were not upto to the standards of the society,
