Do you believe personality tests should be used to inform employment decisions? Why or why not? How can we increase the value, relevance, and/or applicability of personality tests for these types of decisions?
Yes according to my opinion personality tests should be used to inform employment descisions.
Personality tests are a good objective method of knowing a lot about a person who is going to be appointed for particular job.
Application of personality tests can be useful due to number of reasons:
1. Personality tests will provide lot of information about the individuals personality traits, interaction skills, outlook towards work ,behavioural tendencies and much more.
2. These tests can be of help to describe the employers characteristics that are important for their job perspective.
3. Personality tests provides person's emotional and social functioning over a considerable period of time and it's not just the temporary emotional state (eg anger/sadness)
4.These tests assess the fitness of individual to do certain job from behavioural perspective. Is individual s behavior appropriate for a particular job.
The value and relevance of such personality tests can be increased by doing self questionnaires along with projective tests and corroborating results of both to come to a conclusion,so that even if there is any bias or manipulation in self questionnaires it comes to notice.
To make these tests part of the appititude test and interview.
To mainly make use of these personality tests where in there is requirement of lot of social interaction.
