Cognitive Neuroscience : The field of cognitive neuroscience concerns the scientific study of the neural mechanisms underlying cognition and is a branch of neuroscience. Congnitive neuroscience overlaps with cognitive psycology, and focuses on the neural substrates of mental processes and their behavioural manifestations.

Methods employed in cognitive neuroscience include psycophysical experiments, functional neuroimaging, electrophysiological studies of neural systems and increasingly, cognitive genomics and behavioral genetics.

Parts of the brain play an important role in this field. Neurons play thr most vital role, since the main point is to establish an understanding of cognition from a neural perspective, along with the different lobes of the cerebral cortex.
