If you were a psychologist studying the impact of family relationships on success in school in first through third graders, would you use quaantitative or qualitative analysis? Why? In addition, what type of study would you choose (cross-sectional, longitudinal, or sequential study)? What are the challenges to using the type of study you choose?

I would use qualitative analysis because it gives proper reasons for effects on the child. With qualitative analysis I would be able to find the effects and consequences of family relationship on the child. I would also be able to judge what kind of relationship creates what impact. I would choose sequential study method because it involves more people for a long time. This way, the impact of various types of relationship can be observed in the subject over a period of time and gives a detailed account. A few challenges associated with it are it is time consuming, it requires more subjects from various background, it requires good analytical research and it needs tremendous cooperation from the subjects.
