you are a researcher who is interested in developmental changes in children's ability to cooperate when working on school projects together. Briefly describe how you could examine this issue using each of the following designs of micro genetic

Answer #1

I would first collect a group of participants to study, approximately 2-4 years old children and I would ensure that I collect a large group of participants. Next, I would choose very specific behaviours of co-operativeness, such as, collaborating with another child to solve puzzles. I would then record these highly specific behaviours repeatedly under an experimental setting. Every 1 month for the next 2 years, I will have my original participants come in to my laboratory in order to be observed.

You are a researcher who is interested in the linkage of three genes in drosophila: The "a" gene, the "b" gene and the "c" gene. You think the genes may be linked, so you decide to do a cross using a true-breeding a+/b+/c+ fly and an a/b/c fly. The F1 generation is all a+/b+/c+. However, when the F1 generation is bred to a true-breeding a/b/c fly, it yields the following offspring: 389 a+/b+/c+ ; 403 a/b/c ; 183 a+/b/c ;...

A researcher is interested in determining the affect that prolonged practice has on a mouse's ability to sustain and use information that it has learned. He trains 18 mice on a laboratory maze. Each mouse runs the maze twice per day for two weeks. At the end of this initial training period the mice are randomly separated into three groups. The first group continues to run the maze twice per day for another week. The second group runs a brand...

1. Imagine you are a local businessperson who has to deal with the issue of outsourcing. You want to begin with the facts. How many, if any, jobs have been lost to outsourcing in your area? Are there any foreign firms in your area that are creating jobs (insourcing)? Consider using the Internet to help you find the data you need. 2. Describe the continuity correction (covered in an earlier course unit), and explain how, when, and why it is used in statistics. Don't limit your thinking to the most common example given of this corrective step: approximation of binomials using the Normal distribution. While that is an example of such a correction, it is only one example. (Hint: You could compare the development of this correction logic for discrete distributions to the use of integration against continuous distributions.) Discuss the more...

Introduction Purpose Your goal is to create a design for a software interface. You will experience the scope of the design process from brainstorming ideas and gathering information about users’ needs to storyboarding, prototyping, and finally, testing and refining your product. As you work on the software interface, you will demonstrate your ability to apply fundamental Human-Computer Interaction principles to interface analysis, design, and implementation. You will be responsible for delivering project components to your professor at several points during...

Subject bias can occur in an experiment when the participants are aware of the purpose of the study and respond in a way that they think the researchers want. For example, if participants believe they are in a study to test if coffee improves your mood, those who drank coffee might claim to be happier than they really are. Based on the information given, which of the following experiments is most likely to have the issue of a control or...
