What is aggression?

What is aggression?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Aggression refers to a harmful behaviour that violates social conventions(Bandura, 1973) and intends to harm an object or another individual who does not wish to be harmed (Baron & Richardson, 1994). There is a possibility that in many cases aggression might escalate into violence. The existing literature distinguishes aggression into two common subtypes- overt and covert aggression (Conner, 2004). Overt aggression involves an open display of aggression, such as physical fighting, verbal threats and bullying. While covert aggression is more hidden and surreptitious such as stealing, truancy and arson.
