How do specialized or problem-solving courts differ from traditional courts? Why have these courts become so popular in the United States? Do female offenders face different challenges in these types of courts than males?
The traditional court is a legal justice system with set written laws. It is head by a leader, king or somebody at a higher position in the hierarchy. The traditional court punishes the offenders when the law is broken. Problem solving court on the other hand focuses on the underlying behaviour of the criminal behaviour. The problem solving court understands the real issue or the reason behind a certain behaviour. These courts have become popular in the US due to the massive increase in repetitive crime. This makes the problem-solving court understand the underlying problem for the repetitive behaviour even after corrective techniques and imprisonment. The biggest challenge faced by female offenders is, unemployment in comparison to male offenders. Women take a direct hit on their employment if it is found out that she is mentally unfit.
