During 1920s war was over, peace was there, that resulted in economic development and prosperity. This decade was dominated by youths, fashion and fads. Economic development gave rise to consumerism, people could now buy things in installments, especially this boom was seen in the sector of automobiles. Prohibition was instituted but was ineffective because the 1920s was a period of rebellion and breaking away from the conventional norms of the society. Hence, due to this advancement in economy, technology, personal liberty, this period is also called "roaring twenties".
