Cognitive psychology is the branch of psychology which deals with all mental activties such as attention, memory, perception, problem solving, creativity and thinking. Cognitive psychologists study how people understand, diagnose, and solve problems using their mental processes.

Two important dvelopments in the field of cognitive psychology are:

1) Bilingualism and Language Development: The researchers combine behavioural, neuropsychological and linguistic techniques to study patterns of cross language interaction.

2) Brain Development: Here, the researchers study patterns of brain and behavioural changes in infants, children and young adults. The methods used are behavioural, EEG and computational methods.
