Answer #1

Social mobility is a concept which explains the movement of people such as, individuals, families and even a group of people from their lower level of social order to one step ahead. Most of the time, this movement is fuelled by economic advancement with better job, housing and standard of living. The majority always has an upper hand in any society, especially in America which is white centric until recently, whites always have an advantage over the others. White people were involved in all the fields, business, politics and social roles excluding all the others and aggressively projecting white superiority. This has caused all the others stay down in the social ladder. So, it would take more time for others to match with the whites who already have every privilege in the society. The change is happening but the whites still have an upper hand over others because most of the politicians who rule America, most of the officials who work in different departments and most of the educationist who work in the academic set-up are all mostly whites and they favor white mobility over others.

Since race is a social construct, why do some people still believe that certain "races" of people are better at certain things? For example, I have heard people say "white" men can't jump, and thus they are not good at basketball? Why do we argue that skin color determines behavior when there is no evidence?
