Describe the psychological profile of a suicidal adolescent.

Suicidal adolescents are more likely to show a depressed perosnality profile. Although, all depressed youth do not necessarily commit suicide. Moreover, adolescents who are depressed and under the effect of substances such as alcohol are at a greater risk for attempting suicide. Negative interpersonal relationships with parents, peers, etc are likely to make depressed adolescents prone to depression ( Santrock, 2007). The attempts of suicide made by adolescents are also more frequent during the time of increased academic stress such during exams or due to setback in their emerging intimate relationships, or due to their repeated experience as victims of bullying by other adolescents.
