How would you describe normal aging vs. what is seen with neurocognitive disorders
In normal aging process individuals loose some neurocognitive abilities, as they face problems with their memory and with their problem solving abilities. But they can remember who they are, can carry out their daily routine activities though with difficulty but they can manage themselves and take care of themselves without much help from others.
Whereas, In neurocognitive disorders as Alzheimer's, Dementia or Parkinson's disease, the day-to-day functioning of individuals progressively decreases before their age and decline rapidly. These disorders take away their cognitive functions, as they sometimes no longer remember who they are, find very difficulty in simple problem solving tasks of daily life. The neurlogical impairment takes away their capacity to manage and take care of themselves. It makes them totally dependent on others and their conditions worsens with each day, that they may require an hospitalization till their death.
