In the context of theories pertaining to embodied and extended cognition, Clark asserts that an understanding the mind should be accompanied by a simultaneous understanding of processes that extend far beyond the if the brain. It appears that most studies that investigate mental functions focus solely on brain activity. However, Clark proposes that devices such as our phones and computers maybe becoming extensions of our thinking selves, thereby serving as “cognitive prosthetics”.
