Answer #1

Cognitive therapy is a therapy that modifies thought patterns to change one's behaviour and moods. The negative feelings and atitudes are due to distorted thoughts and feelings.Cognitive therapy is a combination of cognitive and behaviour therapy and it is widely used in mood disorders.CBT is a short term approach to a problem normally requring 6 months but depending on the severity of the case.Faulty thoughts lead to faulty moods so if one changes the negative thought to positive thoughts moods will change and bring about a change in behaviour and alleviate depression. However in severe cases of depression CBT and medication prove to be very effective.research has proved CBT reduces relapsed rates in depression .
