Explain what you think the author is saying, and disscus why the ideas found in the quotation might be historicaly important or interesting.
Honda Toshiaki said "There is no place in the world to compare with Europe. It may be wondered in what way this supremacy was achieved. In the first place, the European nations have behind them a history of five to six thousand years. In this period they have delved deep into the beauties of the arts, have divined the foundations of government, and have established a system based on a thorough examination of the factors that naturally make a nation so prosperous. Because of their proficiency in mathematics, they have excelled also in astronomy, calendar making, and surveying. They have elaborated laws of navigation such that there is nothing simpler for them than to sail the oceans of the world..."
The statement of Honda Toshiaki seems to be true on current scenario, Europe is experiencing great work in technologies, education, environment and sciences.
Before few thousand years ago, the knowledge, civilization and cultures were the exceptionally part of Eastern Countries like India, China etc. but time changed and pointer of development sided to west. After the renaissance changed the scenario of Europe.
In my opinion, Toshiaki’s statement seems to be true on current perspective, I cannot see such kind of multi-dimensional development in any other part of the world.
