Theory of mind refers to development of social cognition, of how others may things or taking their perspectives. Theory of mind in young children develop through the process of socialization. This is developed when children undertsand the wants and wishes of others, when they understand the thinking of others, empathize with others, understand that what is reality and what is false beliefs. They develop these skills when they imitate others behaviors, take up roles of others in their plays, by paying attention to the emotions of others around them, know that they different from others, and there are consequences for their good and bad behaviors.
