How do you reconcile the public’s need to know with the time it often takes to ensure news stories are properly vetted before they are aired?
There are two factors involved, the news demand of the people as well as the scrutiny time. In order to reconcile both the factors, the authors of the media reports or the articles could be allowed to leave their names in the reports. This will help by allowing the public to see a credible name on the reports and will also help the people to believe that since there is a name, people should not be providing incorrect news as it would be hampering their reputation. Hence, providing a name would be allowing the public to believe that the news provided is credible.
