DISCUSSION:
It is an open discussion where you can discuss anything that is relevant to anthropology and that is just about anything. You can post links or discuss other concepts that interested you in the class.
When the word Anthropology comes to mind the first image that image that used to come to mind was the image of an eccentric, lone researcher who wanders from corners to corners of the world to study the peculiar human cultures. This image of anthropology and anthropologist was created by the popular media. In reality an anthropologist is a trained scientist who studies human beings in the context of their evolution both biological and historical, their cultural setup, and study the various societies of the world with human beings as the center point. This makes anthropology different from psychology, sociology, history or evolutionary biology as all these streams study any one aspect of human beings, where as anthropology studies all these aspects of human beings. The focus of study is not the various aspects of human beings or their behavior, or their history or culture or evolution but the human beings themselves in relation to these concepts.
