Do citizens have a moral obligation to serve their country when it is at war? Under what circumstances, if any, is it ethical for a person to refuse to serve?
War itself is unethical except when a country defence itself from an unjust attack. One may have a moral obligation to serve one's country in such a time. If a country wages war on another country for no reason or false reason, one doesn't need to serve one's country. Most of the wars in the world had been fought for silly reasons and that too for the selfish and egoistic reasons of the leaders of the countries. Lots of innocent lives have been lost in such wars because they were not in a position to say no.
