From late 19th century to early 20th century a philosophical movement that changed the cultural trends in societies of the Western world is known as modernism. Modern society(industrial) and cities with rapidly increasing growth played important role in the development of modernism.

Modernism rejected religious beliefs and concept of enlightenment.

Modernism contains self-consciousness, new experimental forms, new techniques in painting, literature, architecture, music etc.
