The philosopher Immanuel Kant proposed the ethical principle that each person should act toward others with respect so that others are never treated merely as a means to an end. Explain the meaning of this principle. Use an example of some act that would be unethical based on this principle.

Immanuel Kant proposed that the ultimate principle of morality is a standard of rationality, which is known was, "Categorical Imperative".

The given ethical principle that each person should act toward others with respect so that others are never treated merely as a means to an end is a Categorical Imperative. This is the golden rule of Kant's which simply means to treat others how one wants to be treated himself. Imperative means an action that a person 'must do'.

For example, one should not deny paying taxes on time. It is their duty to do so. Even if they may be lured to save their taxation amount to spend it on themselves, they shall not do so. This is because of Categorical Imperative, that is a person cannot choose to act out of a situation if it is morally not allowed. If a person does that, the consequences shall also faced.
