how you would use Pavlov conditioning to decrease negative behavior? in a child

Answer #1

Pavlov conditioning is also known as classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is a form of learning wherein a subject learns through association between two stimulus. The most effective way to decrease negative behaviour in a child is through aversion. Aversion technique refers to forming an aversion to a certain stimulus when paired with a negative stimulus. For instance, a child demands for candies for dinner. You cannot give your child candies as a meal replacement. So, one day you give your child candies for dinner, however, right after that you also give him a very mild drug which upsets his stomach. The child would then never ask for candies for dinner as he would form an aversion for candies as he associates candies with his stomach being upset.

Apply either classical conditioning principles or operant conditioning principles to demonstrate how you might hypothetically modify your own behavior include the process you would use and how you would maintain the new and improved behavior after learning had occurred . The answer should include a discussion of the unconditioned stimulus and response for classical conditioning, or positive/negative reinforcement/punishment for operant conditioning.

Describe a small behavior that you would like to change in someone you live with (if you live alone, you could use a parent, sibling, etc.), such as leaving their stuff on the living room table, not emptying the trash, not washing their dishes, etc. Show how the principles of operant conditioning are keeping this behavior in place. Now describe how you would use operant conditioning techniques in order to change the behavior.
