demonstrate your understanding of the sociological perspective, including a self-reflection pertaining to the “sociological imagination”, and the application of sociological theories.
The sociological imagination is a concept given by the American sociologist C. Wright Mills. This concept enables us to understand the relationship between our personal problems and its connection with the wider society. With the help of this concept, people are able to relate the situations in which they live their daily lives to the local, national, and global societal issues that affect them. For example, I am troubled by the noise of traffic around my house but the concept of sociological imagination allows me to view this from a wider angle. Due to the growing urbanisation, the cities are becoming overpopulated as a result more and more traffic is increasing so this noise is not just my problem but vastly a social problem.
