How is gender inequality perpetuated through interactions, and what are the limitations of the interactional perspective in fully understanding gender inequality

Gender inequality is very well identified through interactions have been propagated through many years. As a result of the differences in se-x, there are differences in the behaviors of people. There is difference the non verbal communication in males and females and this difference is also influenced through culture. In the interactions present, there is both the aspect of feminity and masculinity. When a person interacts with a female, they tend to look into the emotional appeal of the subject, so as to convince the female, whereas, for a male, the arguments presented would be more factual.

When a person forms an image of self, it is majorly based on the perception of what the society attributes to him. Basically, gender inequalities are rooted in the way a person talks to another person and is taken for granted. This also occurs with the expectations that a person has for the employee. For example, at an office, for a male and female employee, the standards of determination of performance are different. Women are not inherently thought to be less capable and hence the judgment standards for women are lower than men.

Limitations:

  • Interaction theory does not include the outside influences present in the structure of the society
  • There is ignorance of the socioeconomic categories.
