refers to the physical properties of an item nd what it is made of. ecxample, a chair is made out of wood . thus the wood is the material cause

Efficient Cause: How a thing is made

is an agent that brings something together. example, the chair was put together and made by the carpenter. thus the carpenter is the agent and the efficient cause
