is corporal punishment (e.g., spanking) an acceptable part of child rearing? Are children who were spanked better off as adults than children who were not? Is spanking necessary, or is it just convenient to the parent? These are tough questions, and I welcome all responses, regardless of the position you take.

Normally it reflects absence of creative energy, absence of patience, and poor stress management for the benefit of the parent - perhaps burnout. I do signify "for the most part". It is the path of least resistance, and it instructs kids that hitting is (a) feasible and (b) works. Be careful they grow up mirroring this on their companions, life partners, and your grandkids .My age was hit. For loads of reasons of all shapes and sizes. The whole idea of punishment is to ensure child does not repeat tge unacceptable behaviour again . Hitting a child will never help . There are alternatives to that . You could raise your voice or give them a aggressive look . Children are smart enough to understand such expressions .

Spanking and hitting child shows a negative side of the parent . This would show how impatient amd aggressive the parent or teacher is. Dealing with children involve alot of patience and calm. Simply hitting them will never help. It will instead build an aggressive model infront of child and child is likely to follow the same when grown up.
