Homework Answers

Answer #1

the key project in epistemology is that descartes defines knowledge in terms of doubt. he differentiated betwen the rigorous knowledge called scientia and the conviction called persuasio. according to him, with increase in certainity the doubt also increases. and vice versa. knowledge requires absence of doubt. he emphasised on doubt than on certainity and used the method of doubt. the two conjunctions that he made was that universal character of doubt is to demolish everything and start from the foundations again as well it is not to apply doubt to all candidates for knowledge but to apply it collectively. the foundation truths are universal and hyperbolic character of methodoic doubt. A collective doubt helps avoid mistakes.
