Answer #1

Thinking Sex by Gayle S. Rubin is a revelation about how sexuality is made into a political organization by treating people of different sexuality differently. He argues that although the society has recognized people’s need for different sexual orientation, it doesn’t treat everyone equally. For example, someone who married an opposite sex which is considered to be the normal way of living, reproducing and forming as a family is respected more in the society than someone who married the same sex person, transgender, bi-sexual and someone who is a prostitute or a porn star. So, this different treatment questions how well our society is treating individual rights and using that to judge people who live according to their wish. He further says that sexuality is made into a political just like they did to gender. When it is organized into power and political, some are rewarded while others are punished. He further says that just like the class system, modern sexual system has also become the object of political struggle. People, except when they lead the so called normal life or heterosexual couples have everything in their advantage but others such as same sex partners, transgender etc. have a hard time finding a house, getting a job and moving into social spheres such as politics and they are totally discriminated.

A person’s identity is made up of many aspects. Physical features such as sex, height, weight, and skin color are what people notice first – and make immediate, instinctive judgments about. While other visual factors – including age and health – are often used to identify a person, race and ethnicity tend to present the greatest social challenges for individuals as well as groups.
