What changes have taken place in respect to this relationship in the past fifty years? Lack of piety in social life leading venereal diseases.

Venereal diseases did exist in earlier times, but there is a small, still needs to be researched, correlation between piety and their spread.

Piety stands for religious beliefs and religious believes have always believed in contact and consummation after marriage, but with the spread of knowledge and awareness with respect to the dogmatism and hypocrisy that religions propagate, the newer generation has veered away from the ideals that religions so often propagated with respect to contact relationships.

This has led to a rise in venereal diseases, there is correlation, but correlation does not insinuate a causal relationship.

They need to show causality, which means that one phenomenon (lack of piety) does lead to another phenomenon (spread of venereal diseases).
